Hybrid cloud solutions

Everyone is talking about Cloud these days, but a hybrid solution could be just what small businesses could benefit from most.  You can have your cake and eat it so to speak, and at a cost that does not break the bank.

A mixture of cloud and a NAS box from Synology could really fit the bill.  Email could be in the cloud (Microsoft Exchange online for example) and files are stored locally on the Synology device.  Backups are made both to a local disk within the NAS box itself for fast document retrieval, and to two cloud services just in case of local disaster.

The local storage means that your files are where you want them to be, but due to clever syncing technology, they can also be with you on the go as well as in the office, not to mention your mobile devices.  You can have one of these little boxes tucked away on the network and they almost look after themselves.  Running on Linux, they also do an awful lot more if you want them too, they can be a CrashPlan server, Mail server, VPN server, DHCP, Radius, iTunes, Media Streamer and a whole lot more.  A five bay NAS with 5x4TB drives on a RAID 6 will give you 10.9TB of protected storage, and all for under £1000.  If you have not looked at NAS boxes for a while, it may be worth doing so, they have come on in leaps and bounds over the last few years.

If you would like more information on Cloud and NAS integration, please feel free to drop me a line.  We have provided many small businesses with the perfect solution for their file and business system requirements.
